A slate originates from river sediment and exists through the action of compression and heat. Certain English green slates originated as volcanic ash deposits that were deposited in water.

The sheen from a well-oiled slab is superb – it fits well within the kitchen worktop environment and it takes heat without blinking and only requires a regular feed of special slate oil to retain that just-installed look.
Slate is one of the most durable of natural stones and will compliment any kitchen, hearth or mantelpiece. The majority of our slate is mined right here in the UK so you are supporting the use of a local, naturally resourced material.
